David and Ralph Gold buy the Ann Summers brand and two stores from founder Caborn Waterfield. The business is male-orientated and focusses largely on catering for a male customer.

Jacqueline joins Ann Summers, the business owned by her father as a Wages Clerk on work experience.

July 1981

After much debate with the board and an incredible amount of hard work, Jacqueline launches Ann Summers Party Plan in the UK and the Ann Summers we know today is born.

Jacqueline celebrates 10 years success of Ann Summers Party Plan.

Jacqueline is appointed Managing Director and Chief Executive of Ann Summers.

After the incredible growth of Ann Summers parties, Jacqueline decides the time is right to open the first, new concept, female-friendly Ann Summers retail store. The store is located in Queensway, London and is the first step in a roll out of a number of other retail stores for the brand.

After much interest in Jacqueline’s rise to the top, she releases her first autobiography, Good Vibrations.

1999

Jacqueline receives a bullet in the post as she plans to open the first Ann Summers store in Dublin. As a strong and determined business woman she went ahead regardless and the shop was an instant success.

Jacqueline spots an opportunity to widen the Ann Summers customer base and acquires the Knickerbox brand which is integrated in to a number of Ann Summers stores.

Jacqueline celebrates the 20th anniversary of Ann Summers Party Plan.

After a lengthy court case, Jacqueline wins against the government with the judge overturning the ban on Ann Summers advertising in job centres.

In recognition of her success as a woman in business, Jacqueline is invited by Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, to Buckingham Palace to celebrate the successes of women in business.

Jacqueline launches the first European Ann Summers store in Valencia, Spain. In the same year, she is also recognised by Retail Week magazine as the 2nd most powerful woman in retail.

Jacqueline is invited to speak at the prestigious Oxford University Union and after hosts an Ann Summers party for female students.

Jacqueline appears as one of the panellists on ITV1’s Fortune: Million Pound Giveway.

After months of planning, Jacqueline marries fiancé Dan Cunningham at Blenheim Palace, Oxford. With celebrity guests and many friends and family, it was a perfect day and Jacqueline and Dan were delighted that the wedding was featured in HELLO! Magazine.

Jacqueline launches WOW to recognise and support the achievements of female entrepreneurs.

Jacqueline was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent chemotherapy and a lumpectomy. Later she underwent a mastectomy.

The world changes due to the global pandemic and Jacqueline is forced to close all retail stores. Ann Summers sees a successful shift to online and an incredible resurgence of Party Plan.
